DescriptionA letter typed on onion paper from the Adjutant General's Office in the War Department in Washington, D.C. presenting a Purple Heart to a Mr. Edward F. Pankrac. It is dated February 28, 1935 and reads," To: The Quartermaster General, 1. The Secretary of War directs that a Purple Heart, engraved with the name of the recipient, be issued to Mr. Edward F. Pankrac, 5512 West 24th Street, Cicero, Illinois on account of wound received in action Oct. 9, 1918, while serving as a private first class, Co. B, 132nd Inf."
