DescriptionA devotional scapular featuring two small, rectangular pieces of cloth connected by two woven strings. One depicts a woman sitting in the clouds, holding a baby on her lap and a scapular in one hand. The baby holds another scapular, but in both hands with the string stretched out between. "Our Lady of Mt. Carmel" appears beneath the image, along with the words "Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire. Scapular promise given to St. Simon Stock, July 16, 1251. I, the Mother of Grace, shall descend on the Saturday after death and whomsoever I shall find in". There is a similar scene on the other one with a man kneeling before the mother and baby, again in the clouds. A long piece of cloth is changing hands and cherubs dance behind them. The words "Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire" run along the bottom edge. Both pieces of cloth have a dark brown rick rack stitch border and dark brown woven fabric on their backs.
