DescriptionA kroj consisting of a headband, sash, blouse, vest, skirt, apron, and an unknown element. The headband is made of a strip of yellow and black embroidery bordered with white lace. An elastic band connects the end and creates the back of the headband. Two wide strips of embroidered ribbon hang down from the back. The unknown element is a strip of gold and black embroidery with lace trim that matches the kroj's headband. It is possibly a collar or a piece of embroidery that was to be sewn onto another kroj element, but was not. The sash is a length of machine embroidered silk. The skirt is black with floral embroidery across its bottom just above the hemline. The embroidery is yellow, orange, pink, green, red, blue, and purple. White lace is sewn across the length of the hemline. The apron is identical to the shirt, but with floral embroidery and lace on its sides as well as across its hemline. The blouse is white with long sleeves that are covered with colorful embroidery and cut work. The embroidery is red, pink, yellow, orange, and blue. Matching embroidery is at each cuff. The mustard-colored vest is covered with a floral brocade in orange, reds, purple, greens, and blue. Gold metallic lace is sewn onto both the vest's front and back sides. Detailing in gold metallic threading is sewn into the brocade. A narrow length of cream-colored fabric is sewn around the bottom of the vest. This was commonly done to vests and blouses to accommodate the wearer's size so the kroj could be worn comfortably over the years. On View
