DescriptionAn immigrant travel ensemble consisting of eight pieces: a blouse, bodice, skirt, apron, shaw, headscarf, and boots. Then blouse is in an off-white, almost sheer fabric with white floral embroidery sewn around its neck. White buttons extend down its back with ties on either side of its bottom for cinching. The bodice is made of black velvet and is worn as a jacket. Bronze ribbon detailing is around its bottom and at each cuff. Its bottom edge is finished with scalloped brown lace. Six self-covered circular buttons extend down its front from neck to waist. The skirt is of a heavy-weight red, cotton fabric with a subtle tan striped print. The waist is gathered heavily. Three black, cotton bands are affixed around its bottom. The center and bottom bands are straight across, and the top band is in a rick rack style. The apron is in a striped fabric with burgundy, green, and green and white print. A dark green fringe finishes its hem. The ensemble's black, wool shawl has black yarn fringe and an intricate print (resembling paisley) in yellow, purple, green, blue and red. The black brilliantine headscarf is very plain with only black fringe sewn around its sides. The ensemble is completed with a pair of black, leather high-top boots with pointed toes and leather soles. Nineteen small metal grommets extend up and down their fronts and a long shoelace woven between them on each boot. The interior of the boots is black leather.
