DescriptionA large plate in relief with a black and gold border. There is a scene from Bartered Bride in its center in which one woman consols another woman. Both wear Bohemian kroje and one woman sits on a bench with a bucket nearby. Trees, bushes and buildings make up the area around them. The words "Prodana nevěsta. Rozmysli si, Mařenko." are written on the back of the plate. This translates to "Bartered bride. Think twice, Marenko." The Bartered Bride is a comic opera in three acts by the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana.On View
