DescriptionA child's Moravian kroj consisting of two petticoats, a skirt, apron, sash, blouse, vest, collar, sash, and tights. The petticoats are very similar. Both are made of off-white cotton and are trimmed with off-white lace. One is decorated with three diamond-shaped fishnet lace and cut work inserts. Hand-stitched eyelet work runs across the front of its waistband. The other has cut work and white on white embroidery on its lower half. It is trimmed with the same fabric. The skirt is made of pink cotton with floral embroidery in yellow, white, and green. It is gathered at the waist with elastic. The apron is made of black cotton covered with floral embroidery in red, white, green, yellow, and blue. A length of bobbin lace trims its hem. Rick rack-style stitching in white threading lies at the apron's center, extending from top to bottom. The sash is covered with floral embroidery in orange, purple, and light green. Its sides are trimmed with blue and orange stitching. The blouse is made of white cotton and has a gathered neck and cuffs. Black floral embroidery lies just beneath the gathered top of each cuff. They are also trimmed with black and white cotton lace. The vest is of red grosgrain ribbon and has blue embroidered ribbon inserts on its front and back sides. Three circular embroidered medalions evenly spaced on the vest back. Floral embroidery in white, yellow, red, and green cover the inserts on the front. Five circular plastic buttons run down its front. The rectangular collar is made of white cotton. Three of its four sides are covered with black floral embroidery and cut work. Black lace trim follows the embroidery on the same sides. The kroj is finished with a pair of children's tights in red. These are not original to the kroj.On View
