DescriptionA Slovak kroj consisting of a blouse and vest, skirt and apron, sash and bow. The short blouse has pleated and puffed sleeves. It has a ruffled collar that is covered with red and navy blue floral embroidery. Its edges are scalloped and white ribbon with machine embroidered red floral design tie at the neck. The cuffs are decorated with the same embroidery as the collar. The bottom edge of the blouse is accented with four horizontal pleats. A cream-colored vest decorated with floral embroidery in dark maroon, dark salmon, cream and green threading is worn over the blouse. Lengths of silver lace run down each side of its front, along with five hook and eye closures. Identical lace runs across the back of the neckline. Looped cording, also silver, lines the back of the arms and the seams on the back of the vest. The white skirt is decorated with lines of a horizontal, blue print. It is very tightly pleated around the back and sides, and its waistband matches the printed part of skirt. Its front side is made of two plain ecru panels. The kroj's black apron is decorated with bright green stitching. Its waistline is tightly pleated and eleven horizontal pleats run across its lower half, each accented with green stitching. A green leaf design repeats across its scalloped hemline, which is finished with cut work. Both sides of the apron are decorated with leaf and geometric designs. These edges are also scalloped and finished with cut work. A bright green sash covered with floral machine embroidery in salmon, dark maroon, white, dark purple and yellow threading is worn around the waist. The kroj is completed with a large, white bow covered with floral embroidery in dark maroon, mauve and green threading. Silver fringed cording runs across the bottom of both tails. There are twill ties attached to the center of the bow.
