DescriptionA Slovak kroj consisting of a blouse, vest, skirt, apron and sash. The white blouse has puffed sleeves and a gathered collar in the wolf's teeth design. Each tooth is covered with red embroidery and cut work, and a red ribbon is tied around the neckline. The blouse's sleeves are nearly covered with floral and geometric embroidery stitched in red threading. Matching designs run around the cuffs, which are also wolf's teeth. The kroj's sea green vest is covered with a colorful floral brocade stitched in dark purple, red, dark mauve, metallic gold and silver, white and sea green threading. Red machine embroidered ribbon runs around the neckline, arms and down its front. The lengths of ribbon down the front are lined with metallic gold lace, which also decorates the back and lines the ribbon on the back of the vest. Two silver clasps accented with colored beads (one red and one green) are affixed on the front for closure. The skirt and apron are largely the same. Both are blue with a tightly gathered waistline and a horizontal pleat across its center. Most of its lower halves are covered with white, yellow, orange and red tambour stitching. A length of yellow machine embroidered ribbon runs through the geometric tambour designs. The ribbon's floral patterns are in red, dark blue and green threading. A band of cream-colored bobbin lace runs across the hemlines of both the skirt and apron. The only difference is the embroidery, ribbon and lace extending up either side of the apron, in addition to the hemline. The finishing touch to this kroj is a bright yellow sash covered with dark blue, salmon and green floral machine embroidery. Metallic gold fringe accents each end.Credit LineItems given on behalf of Anna Klco Kucej
