DescriptionA Slovak kroj consisting of a blouse, vest, petticoat, skirt, apron and sash. The blouse is white with puffed sleeves. It has a tightly gathered collar and drawstring cuffs. The wolf's teeth collar is decorated with yellow cut work and embroidery that extends down the right side of blouse's front opening. The cuffs match the collar and the sleeves are nearly covered with the same stitchwork in floral designs. Over the blouse, is a bright yellow vest covered with a floral brocade. Yellow machine embroidered ribbon is sewn around its neckline. The front of the vest is decorated with four vertical lengths of silver lace accented with blue and silver buttons. Four buttons run down its left side with answering button holes on the opposite side. The back side of the vest is also decorated with the silver lace. The kroj's white petticoat that is covered with floral and geometric cut work and embroidered designs. It has an elastic waistband and its hemline is scalloped. The skirt and apron are largely the same. Both are made from a rich, dark blue satin and have tightly pleated waistlines. Yellow-gold floral embroidery runs across the bottom of both, with a line of tambour stitched circles beneath it. Wide, white lace and a line of silver rick rack finish the hemlines. The skirt departs from the apron with its dull, blue waistband. Likewise, the embroidery and lace continue up both sides of the apron, as well as decorating its bottom. Finally, a yellow-gold sash covered with floral machine embroidery in red, dark mauve, dark purple, dark blue, white and green threading finishes this kroj.
