DescriptionA Piešt’any kroj consising of a blouse, collar, vest, two petticoats, skirt, apron, cap, and headwreath. The blouse is made of natural linen with yellow, gold, white, and platinum embroidery on its sleeves and cuffs. Yellow rick-rack highlight the cuffs and sleeve embroidery. The collar is trimmed on two sides with yellow embroidered ribbons. Its bottom edge is scalloped and edged with a ribbon embroidered in orange, yellow, pink, green, and metallic threading. The vest is in yellow silk that is covered with floral embroidery in red, pink, blue, orange, and green. Its yoke and armholes are trimmed with yellow embroidered ribbon. Two silver clasps with a red bead in the center provide closure on the vest's front. The vest is accented with a platinum and multi-colored beaded trim. The kroj has two petticoats both trimmed with bobbin lace and accentuated with a hemline stiffner. Both are gathered to high waistband. Likewise, the skirt and apron are gathered to a high waistband. They are both made of shiny, black cotton with embroidered with large white flowers and trimmed with yellow rick-rack and white lace. The only dramatic difference is the decorative trimming and embroidery being on the apron's sides, in addition to its bottom edge.
This kroj is finished with the choice of one of two headpieces. The headwreath, worn by an unmarried woman, is wrapped with blue, yellow, red, green, cream, and white cloth flowers. A length of yellow embroiderd ribbon is tied in bow on the back with ends stream down. The cap is trimmed with cut work and embroidery in orange, white, and silver metallic threading. The face is framed with wolf's teeth, a protective symbol. Caps are worn by married women.On View
