DescriptionA Bohemian-style kroj that was probably made in the United States consisting of a blouse, vest, petticoat, skirt, apron, cap, and two pairs of stockings. The blouse is made of white cotton and has a wide neckline that is finished with cut work lace and white on white embroidery. Identical lace decorates its cuffs. The vest is made of black velvet and is decorated with affixed red floral designs. The vest's edges are trimmed with gold metallic cording. Six holes lie on either side of the front opening for lacing. The kroj's petticoat is a very plain with a gathered at waist. The black skirt is covered with a floral print in red, white, and green. Its waist is gathered. The apron is made of white cotton that is slightly pleated at the waist. A narrow band of cut work and white on white embroidery lace is sewn across its bottom and up each side. The cap is white and covered with cut work and white on white embroidery arranged in floral designs. The cap itself is small with a bow affixed at its back that is wider than it is. Although the bow is usually larger than the one on this cap, the design of it is typical for a Bohemian kroj. This kroj also includes a sheer, white kerchief to be tied on the wearer's head. The face is framed with red embroidery and lace. All of its edges, even those on the ties, are finished with red stitching. Finally, the kroj has two pairs of red stockings. One is sheer and possibly made of silk. The other is thicker and opaque. Red stockings are a staple of most Bohemian kroje.
Credit Linesupposedly In Memory of Bessie and Milo Naxera PP records indicate that a tablecloth was donated in their memory, but there doesn't seem to be one in the donation
