DescriptionA wedding kroj from Slovakia that includes a blouse, cuffs, collar, vest, skirt, apron, two bows and a headscarf. The white blouse has puffed, elbow-length sleeves that are gathered with a drawstring of twill tape. It has a simple neckline that is also gathered. It is accompanied by a pair of white, lace cuffs that arecovered with floral cutwork and embroidery. The white lace collar has a decorative neckband made of goldwork, which is gold wire threading wrapped around a cut cardboard model and affixed to fabric. Its bright green and ecru brocade vest is decorated with curved bands of dark red stitching decorating its front and sides. There is similar stitching on the back, along with silver cording twisted into a series of mirrored circles. Small sections of a different green brocade are sewn at the shoulders. The kroj's dark green brocade skirt is heavily pleated and has two strips of brown-green fabric sewn into it roughly 3.75 inches and 4.5 inches from its hemline. Its front side is made of two panels of plain ecru fabric with a narrow band of cutwork and embroidery lace at its bottom. The black apron has black floral lace around its hemline and up each side. A floral applique in light and dark brown, dusky green and dark mauve follows the lace. The waistline is gathered below the waistband, save a section across the front. The kroj's white headscarf has white lace on two sides, along with floral cutwork and embroidery. Three lengths of handmade rick rack separate the lace from floral designs. A large floral design lies in the corner where the two sides meet. Two bows finish off the kroj beautifully. One is an ecru bow covered with hot pink, pale yellow and yellow-green floral embroidery. There is a narrow ecru ribbon with a repeating pattern of hot pink, pale yellow and yellow-green flowers tied in the bow's center, creating two decorative loops and two additional tails. All four tails have metallic silver fringe across their bottom edges. The other is teal in color and covered with white lace that, in turn, is covered with pale pink, grey and light green floral embroidery. There is a narrow ecru ribbon with a repeating pattern of hot pink and yellow-green flowers tied in the bow's center, creating three decorative loops and two additional tails. All four tails have metallic silver fringe across their bottom edges.
