DescriptionA kroj from Blata, Bohemia that includes a blouse and vest, petticoat, skirt and apron, cap and bow. The kroj's white blouse has large, puffed elbow-length sleeves. There is yellow floral embroidery at the top and bottom of each sleeve. Wide, white bobbin lace runs around each cuff. The blouse has a drawstring collar. Its gold vest is covered with a floral brocade in pale mauve, blue, light brown, green and white threading. A row of brick red cross-stitching runs length of the straps and arms. Wide, metallic silver lace lines the top of the bodice and its front opening. A row of sequins finishes these edges. The same lace, as well as a narrow version, run across the insert panel in between the front openings. Four eyes are on either side of the front opening with green cording to lace through. Three lengths of narrow metallic silver lace run up the back of the vest. A small rectangular bustle lies on either side of the vest's bottom edge. Its white petticoat has a scalloped hemline and delicate floral designs embroidered around its bottom edge. It has a gathered waistline. The black skirt has a gathered waistline and dark rick rack is affixed around its hemline. A very wide panel of purple-mauve brocade fabric is sewn in roughly four inches above the hemline. Thebrocade is mostly a greyish-tan, but its flowers are in orange with metallic gold accents, purple and light blue. A band of metallic silver lace is affixed above the brocade fabric. The white apron is one of the highlights of this kroj. Its lower half is covered with lace-filled cutwork and embroidery in floral designs. Every one is lined with tiny beads of yellow, pink, blue, orange, red, white, pink and green. Countless silver sequins are sewn in between the flowers and designs. Its hemline is scallped and finished with cutwork and white embroidery. The apron has wide ties that feature cutwork, embroidery, sequins and beads as well. The kroj's white cap has white lace inserted at the top of its face. A pink and mauve floral design is embroidered on its top with a cross-stitched band before it and on each side. The side bands extend down its back side to the base of the cap. There are two short bands on either side of the lace, as well. The cap is gathered with a drawstring. Finally, a bow made of brick red ribbon with gold and green machine embroidered edges finishes this kroj. Floral designs in the same colors as the edging are machine embroidered in the center of the ribbon. Its tail ends are cut in a rick rack pattern.
