DescriptionA Moravian kroj that consists of a blouse and vest, petticoat, skirt and apron, collar and two potential headscarves. The blouse is white with puffed and tightly pleated sleeves. Red and silvery white embroidery in geometric patterns runs down its front, decorates each shoulder and wraps around the cuffs twice. There are two layers of lace at the cuffs - one of cut work and embroidery, and one of fine lace with floral designs. The dark purple velour vest is an excellent contrast to the white of the blouse. The vest is decorated with wide panels of off-white fabric that are covered with multi-colored floral embroidery. The larger flowers are accented with tiny beads and sequins. The outer edges are lined with winding silver sequins and cording. The panels run down either side of the front and around the neck to the back. The back of the vest is decorated with three large designs formed from tambour stitching. Each one has a pom pom beneath it and all are bright orange. The kroj has a plain, white petticoat with a drawstring waistband. There is a horizontal pleat sewn across its center. The tightly pleated skirt is black with two vertical panels of off-white fabric affixed side by side to its center. Each one is decorated with multi-colored floral embroidery and nearly all of the flowers are accented with clusters of tiny beads. Three of the four sides on each panel are lined with winding cording made of silver sequins and beads. The apron is teal-blue and covered with a silvery white floral brocade. It has a gathered waistband, and white lace across its hemline and up each side. The collar is covered with red and silvery white embroidery in geometric designs. Long, white lace is garthered around its bottom edge. The red headscarves are nearly identical, being covered with a floral print in dusky blue, mustard, olive green, pale yellow and black. They are both tied and pinned into a cap shape that is indicative of the area. The only difference between the two is the addition of gemoetric designs on one.
