DescriptionA Slovak kroj consisting of an undershirt, blouse, collar, vest, petticoat, skirt, apron, sash, and cap. The undershirt is made of thin, white linen or cotton. It has a short, fitted bodice and puffed, three-quarter-length sleeves. The blouse is off-white with a large drawstring neckline, and salmon-colored lace trim at its placket and cuffs. Gold embroidery and cut work highlight its shoulders and cuffs. The collar made of ecru lace with scalloped edge. Its upper half is decorated with floral goldwork. It closes at the throat with one snap where a bow made of embroidered natural ribbon is attached.The vest is green with a colorful brocade in red, gold, purple, white, orange, and green. It is trimmed with metallic lace and yellow embroidered ribbon. There are three small, non-matching buttons on its front, but no buttonholes. The petticoat is white cotton with a gathered waist and a cotton ruffle affixed on its lower half. The skirt is in a greenish-brown print fabric with blue horizontal ovals and lines, and is heavily pleated. A band of green lace and two bands of narrow embroidered green and blue ribbon are applied near its bottom. The apron is black with a strip of embroidered peach, green, and yellow floral ribbon sewn down its center. White lace and floral embroidery trim its bottom and sides. Its edges are also trimmed with yellow and blue ribbon, and rick-rack. The sash is green and rather like a belt with the part around the waist having two perpendicular pieces sewn on with meitered corners, as well as six small snaps as closure. The sash is covered with machine embroidery in red, blue, and white. A cap in royal blue velvet with orange and white embroidery framing the face, and on its back, finishes the kroj.
