DescriptionA wedding Ždiar kroj consisting of a blouse, dress, apron, belt, neck bow, wedding crown, and headscarf. The blouse is made of white cotton or fine linen and has white lace cuffs. A length of narrow, yellow ribbon covered with floral embroidery runs down its front, and also adorns the cuff tops. Large squares of tightly woven or embroidered threading in red, white, and black are attached at the shoulders. The dress/jumper takes the place of both the skirt and vest. The bodice, or vest, is made of wide gold ribbon attached to a cream brocade fabric in geometric patterns. The skirt has a floral print on its back side and solid red fabric as its front. Lengths of white lace and silver ribbon trim decorate its back. The apron is shiny, black cotton that is trimmed with red lace. It is also decorated with tan and white rick rack, and silver mettalic trim. The belt is made up of a length of white fabric with a dark red ribbon affixed to it. The ribbon is decorated with white stitching. A red ribbon bow covered with floral embroidery in blue and white threading is worn at the throat. A pin assmebly is attached for use in affixing it to the wearer. The kroj's wedding crown is a headwreath wrapped with red ribbon and white flowers. Five length of wide ribbon are sewn together and mounted on a long, rectangular piece of plastic. The ribbons are longer than the plastic and hang down quite a distance beneath it. This assembly is attached to the back of the crown and is rather like a veil. Once the wedding ceremony is complete, a bride removes her wedding crown and dons a headscarf. The headscarf in this kroj is made of white netting. White floral embroidery lies in one corner with lace on the conjoining edges. The lace is decorated with white embroidery and its bottom edge finished with red stitching. The scarf is folded in half when worn with the embroidery and lace showing. On View
