DescriptionLate 19th century Slovak every day or travel clothing that consists of a blouse, vest and skirt. The blouse is plain white with woven, red ribbon around its cuffs. Both floral and geometric designs are woven into the ribbon. Red stitching with a black line through the center runs around the collar. It is accompanied by a black vest that is covered with a metallic gold/bronze floral brocade. There is a ruffle around its bottom edge. Its back side is decorated with golden yellow straight and rick rack style stitching, as well as red cording. There are black velvet inserts on the sides of the bodice and a black velvet panel is attached to its front opening. Five lines of thick, golden yellow thread are sewn across the velver. Six brown buttons lie on either side of the front opening. The dark blue skirt is covered with dark blue woven designs. It has a black waistband with a pleated waistline.On View
