Object number2017.002.0001-4
Mediumtextile
DescriptionA kroj from Piešt’any that includes a blouse, vest, skirt and apron. Its blouse is white and has puffed, elbow-length sleeves. The lower half of each sleeve is covered with gold embroidery and cut work, which is repeated on the cuffs. The cuffs are scalloped to have a wolf's teeth edge. The mustard-colored vest is covered with an orange and yellow floral brocade. Wide sections of solid mustard fabric lie around the vest's arms and neckline, and down its front opening. Narrow lengths of machine embroidered ribbon cover the seams between the brocade and plain fabric. The emobroidery is floral and in red, dark blue and green threading. The vest is held closed with two silver barrettes. The kroj's skirt and apron are nearly identical. Both are black and tightly gathered with light gold floral embroidery covering their lower halves. A short row of alternating white and yellow floral designs run around the hemlines, along with white lace. The lace also runs up either side of the apron.
