DescriptionA child's Slovak kroj consisting of a blouse, jumper, headband and ribbon. The blouse is off-white in color and has puffed sleeves. White cut work lace accented with floral designs finishes the cuffs. Its collar is covered with geometric embroidery in red, pale yellow, dark blue, purple, green and white threading. A long, white ribbon hangs down from either side of the collar and the neckline is tightly gathered. The jumper is a dramatic contrast to the plain blouse. It has a black and white polkadotted skirt and a dark navy blue bodice. Lines of brightly colored stitching run around the hemline and at roughly the center of the skirt. The bodice is covered with a deep blue floral brocade. Its front side is nearly covered with floral stitching and rick rack cording. A row of five flowers runs down both sides with smaller flowers on each side. Green, pink and white cording surrounds the flowers with four lines of stitching surrounding them. Matching lines of stitching run around the neckline and arms, and down either side of the bodice's back side. A black velvet headband decorated with pink faux flowers tops the kroj. Pale green leaves accompany the flowers on the sides and stems are wound around the ends of the headband. The final touch is a mustard yellow ribbon covered with machine embroidery in the form of hot pink, dark purple, dark blue and pale yellow floral designs with pale green leaves and stems. Hot pink and dark purple edging finishes the sides of the ribbon. On View
