DescriptionAn antique kroj from Boehmia that consists of a blouse and best, petticoat, skirt and apron. The white blouse has a drawstring neckline and cuffs that are both decorated with cut work lace. The vest is made of dull red velvet and is decorated with silver goldwork flowers that are accented with dark green beads. Silver wire cording lines all of the vest's edges and runs down the center of its back. Seven grommets run down either side of its front for lacing with a dusky pink ribbon. Bone stays are sewn into the front and sides of the vest. The petticoat is quite long, with a gathered waistline and horizontal pleats sewn in half way down. Its hemline is decorated with cut work and embroidery arranged in floral patterns. The kroj's skirt is also long and made of sage green silk covered with a light sage green brocade. The apron is white and decorated with white on white floral embroidery. Cut work and bobbin lace accent the designs. The same cut work and embroidery lie at the end of each long tie. Five horizontal pleats run across the width of the apron and its waistband is tightly gathered. The final piece of this kroj is a length of white fabric decorated with white on white embroidery nearly identical to the kroj's apron. Cut work accents the designs. Its bottom and sides are scalloped and decorated. This fragment is likely the bow for a cap.On View
