DescriptionA kroj from Bohemia that consists of a blouse and collar, vest, shawl, skirt, apron and cap. The blouse is white with large, puffed sleeves. Its neckline is gathered with a drawstring, as are the cuffs. There is lace at the cuffs made of cutwork and white embroidery. The front of the blouse is covered with long pleats. The blouse has a separate white collar that gathers with a drawstring. Its bottom edge is scalloped lace made of cutwork and white embroidery to match that of the blouse. It has a dark red-pink vest with black edging around its unevenly cut bottom edge. The top half of the front is covered with horizontal lines of silver sequins with lavender, red, orange and light green stitching in between. There is also a narrow length of silver cording in the center of all the stitching. All of these decorations extend up the straps and are on a small piece of fabric on the front of the vest. The neckline is lined with silver lace and yellow rick rack. Six or seven holes for lacing run up either side of the front. The sequins, stitching and cording cover the back of the vest. Pink and light green ribbons are laced through gromments in the center of the back. The white shawl is covered with cutwork and white embroidery that is triangular in shape. Its bottom two edges are scalloped lace made of cutwork and white embroidery. The kroj's full, white skirt and apron are both covered with cutwork and white embroidery. The apron's ties have long sections of lace made by the same means at their ends. The finishing touch is a pale pink cap covered with floral designs embroidered in dark blue, pink, yellow and dark green threading. Dozens of gold sequins are incorporated into the design. There is a lace bow affixed on its back with pink ribbon tied in the center. Narrow, white runs lace around the face of the cap.On View
