DescriptionA Slovak wedding kroj consisting of a blouse, vest, petticoat, skirt, apron, collar, neck bow, sash, and headwreath. The blouse white with elbow-length, puffed sleeves. Its cuffs are covered with white on white floral embroidery and cut work. Its neckline is gathered and five white buttons run down ist front. The is either off-white or cream in color and has colored beads that form floral designs on either side of its front opening. A ribbon is woven through gold hooks for closure. The neckline, arms, and a short section of front are lined with fabric triangles. Its back is covered with the same beads as the front in floral and geometric designs. The white petticoat is gathered at the waist and has white bobbin lace around its hemline. The skirt is also white with a gathered at waist and a thin band of white bobbin lace around its hemline. It is heavily starched into pleats that run from top to bottom. Likewise, the apron is white, but is gathered only at either side of the waist. It is relatively plain, save a row of white on white floral embroidery and cut work that runs horizontally across its center. There are several accessories in this kroj. The first is a white lace collar that is gathered with a twill drawstring. The next accessory is a cream-colored ribbon that is tied in a bow and worn at the blouse's neckline. Several inches at each end are covered with colored beading that forms elaborate floral designs. Each end also has a fringe of beads. Moving down to the waist to a white sash that is covered with evenly spaced floral groupings containing roses in pinks, flowers in pinks and purples, and leaves in greens. All of the elements in the groupings are outlined in gold enamel. There is gold fringe at each end of the sash. A white headwreath covered with white flowers finishes off the kroj. Small blue and lavender flowers appear sporadically, as well as green leaves and circles of cream beads. A circle of clear beads lies on either side, near the wreath's ends.
