DescriptionA kroj made by a Czech woman that consists of a blouse and vest, skirt and petticoat. A dark shawl is also worn with the kroj, but it was not made by the same woman and is much older than the kroj. Its blouse is white with puffed sleeves. Its sleeves and large cuffs are decorated with a repeated cut work pattern. Wide, white lace runs around its cuff bottoms, which are gathered with drawstrings. Its shiny, red vest has a low front, high back and straps over the shoulders. Most of its edges are finished with strips of a shiny silver fabric. White cording decorated with silver cording and sequins runs around the bottom edge of the vest. The same cording runs up the back side of the vest in three different locations. The petticoat is also white and is decorated with vertical lines of cut work. It has a gathered waistline at the top of its straight skirt. A wide ruffle runs around its hemline. Its full, red skirt has some darting around the waistline and black machine embroidered ribbon placed 7.5 inches from its hemline. The floral embroidery on the ribbon is red, dark blue, white and green. The plain shawl is dark green with fringe around its edges.
